ABOUT ECHO DROP
Echo Drop led by husband-wife musicians/producers Sean and Jill Mitchell, are poised to shatter rockstar norms with their uninhibited debut album, Hindsight. Released on their independent label, 3JS Records, the album serves as an ode to life’s unplanned beauty, mirroring the couple’s resilient journey.
A narrative woven through a 6-month stint as artists in residence in a 5 star hotel in China that led to the writing of an album that album began in 2019 (and stalled in 2020), the arrival of the couples children (Journey and Jagger), and the chaos of COVID. During the pandemic, the couple worked on the pre-production of Hindsight in the confined embrace of their 500-square-foot cabin on Vancouver Island during the lock downs.
Their sound, dubbed a “post-Pill Alanis meets U2 and Jessie J” resonates with ethereal vocals mixed with walls of harmonies, sprinkled with Jessie J-like vocal belts, commanding drum grooves, and synthy melodies. The album and it’s first single “Right Here” was mixed and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer David Darlington (renowned for his work with Sting and Whitney Houston) and pre-production crafted under the mentorship of Emm Gryner (former David Bowie pianist).
Beyond the music, Sean and Jill rewrite the rulebook, championing relationships and family above all else. Their candid discourse on the Echoverse (aka their website) that acts as a digital sanctuary comprised of their blog titled “The Stuff” and their podcasts (Jill – Voxsana, Sean – Drum Geek)—exemplifies their commitment to authenticity, breathing fresh vitality into the intertwined realms of music and family life.
